“A symbol of hope for all the under-privileged children of Australia”
Malcolm Fraser, Australian Prime Minister 1975 – 1983
The Apex Chalet (Magic Castle) project got under way on 13 November 1978.
Five hundred man hours and one hundred and four sticks of gelignite later, the site for the children’s chalet was excavated and ready for construction.
More than 530 Apexian members from across Australia had worked on the 64 square, three-story chalet when it was completed in July 1979.
On October 1979 the Apex Children’s Chalet was opened by the Prime Minister, Mr. Malcolm Fraser.

We Need Your Help – You Can Make a Difference To One Childs Life

This does not include any major maintenance or compulsory safety equipment costs.
To maintain this magnificent building for the children of Australia we need your ongoing support. We are appealing to the commercial sector, trust management funds, sporting or social groups and all service clubs to give assistance.
Obviously monetary assistance is most welcome, but if this is not possible, the supply of equipment or financing a specific item may be more appropriate.
If you can assist in any way, or would like further details, please contact:

How You Can Help
1. ENCOURAGE PEOPLE IN YOUR AREA TO VISIT.
We welcome new community groups from all over Australia – bear in mind that winter bookings usually need to be made 2 years in advance! But summer holiday spots might be easier to manage.
2. SPONSOR A GROUP TO STAY AT THE CHALET.
Although there is only a small cash cost to stay at the Chalet, the additional costs of transport and food can pose a problem for many families who are already struggling
3. HELP OUT.
During our next volunteer working bee. Get in touch with the management committee and we’d love to host you during our ongoing maintenance work.
4. JOIN YOUR LOCAL APEX CLUB.
Apex is an Australian wide organisation of people dedicated to Building Better Communities. The Magic Castle is just one of the countless achievements of Apex.
5. DONATE
We need your help to keep the Magic alive. Your donation will give kids an experience they may never get anywhere else. Every little bit helps! bit does make a real difference.
